\’Rails Girls in Tunisia\’ took place in Tunis on January 29, 2016. This initiative was born in Finland under the same name and quickly spread around the world. Its goal is to teach women to program and more specifically to provide them with tools and a community to understand technology and follow through on their ideas. The \’Rails Girls\’ Tunisia Community is carried by MDI in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Tunisia and aims to strengthen the coaching and training actions for the benefit of Tunisian women.
Soon, the MDI and the BH will launch Rails Girls #Sousse to make technology more accessible to those who want to master a little more computer but cannot find, in their environment, people patient and
educational enough to teach them.
Part of the training will be done by videoconference from Finland. The workshop will be a one-day event where participants will learn the basics of schematic design, prototyping and programming through exercises, case studies and educational presentations. The whole point of the event is to allow girls and women to take an interest in computer coding, thus entering a field still largely dominated by men, and to join a community that now counts more than 15,000 female coders.
The MDI Association is a Think Action Tank founded in 2013 and led by Ghazi Ben Ahmed. MDI is committed to youth inclusion and women’s empowerment, with a particular emphasis on improving education and skills. To this end, MDI focuses on certification training in new technologies to improve the employability of youth and connect them to international technology firms.
