About us

For a Sustainable Euro-Mediterranean region of vitality in a world of fragility

We are living a time of great instability in the Mediterranean region, compounded by a pandemic with severe economic and social impacts. The region’s economic growth falters, current account and fiscal balances are deteriorating and public debt is projected to rise significantly. Inequality is high, aggravating fragility and conflict. The war in Ukraine has pushed up fuel and food prices. Inflation has increased substantially mainly due to rising global prices.

What We're All About

A new blueprint for the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership to build resilience and bring hope and prosperity to the Region.

The COVID19 pandemic offers a unique opportunity for countries in the region to rethink supply chain and strengthen trade and regional integration in order to balance efficiency with resilience. Trade and integration — within the EuroMed region and with Africa can provide an opportunity to enhance regional trade relations by establishing safe and resilient regional supply chains of essential, and non-essential goods and services in the post-COVID era, and unleash forces for Mediterranean dynamism and position the Med/Africa region as a global player.

Our Vision

Who We Are

"We will either find a way or make one."

MDI is a non-political, non-profit organization (NGO) born in Tunisia after the revolution. We are based in Tunis and Brussels. Our main mission is to contribute to the policy making process through our independent in-depth analysis on regional integration, international/regional trade, mobility, and finance with a focus on green transition and digital transformation.

Now, as the world recovers from the pandemic, we are likely to see profound transformations in international production. Relocation, diversification, and regionalization will drive the restructuring of global value chains. This presents an opportunity for Southern Mediterranean countries provided they implements the necessary economic reforms.
